What are the reasons for short circuit of lithium-ion battery?

Lithium battery is divided into lithium ion battery and lithium battery. 1. Short-circuit caused by impure cathode material, or by placing it too long and drying it incompletely. Failure to remove the transition metal impurities in the cathode slurry will lead to puncture of the diaphragm or promote the formation of lithium dendrite in the cathode, resulting in internal short circuit.



2. The quality of the lithium cell diaphragm is not up to standard, and the lithium ion battery is often charged and discharged with high current during use, and the diaphragm cannot withstand the current charging and discharging process in a short time, resulting in damage inside the cell and short circuit.



3. Furthermore, the lithium-ion battery is not properly maintained, the concept of shallow discharge and shallow charging is not followed, and the battery is often charged without power, and the original charger is not used for charging. The above problems will cause internal damage to the battery and cause short circuit.



4. During the recycling process of lithium ion batteries, due to the low lithium storage capacity of the anode material or the rapid struggle of lithium ions from the anode, too many lithium ions are dissociated on the surface of the anode, which will form dendritic crystals over time. When the dendrite grows to a certain length, it is easy to puncture the diaphragm and cause the battery micro-circuit. Low temperature is also conducive to the growth of lithium dendrites, so low temperature will also cause the micro-circuit phenomenon of lithium ion batteries.
